I am an airline pilot and certified flight instructor living in Richmond, Virginia. Although I've been flying since the age of 15, before committing to aviation full time I was a web developer and worked for several start-ups in the affiliate advertising and ecommerce arenas.
Flight Instruction
My focus as an instructor has always been on quality over quantity. I prefer to provide the best instruction possible to a limited number of students. That being said, in my time as a CFI, I've helped students accomplish the following:
- Numerous first solos
- Several successful private pilot checkrides
- One successful commercial pilot checkride
- Several successful CFI checkrides
While I no longer have time to take on students pursuing a certificate or rating from start to finish, I can provide special-emphasis training and refreshers on various topics. I especially like to focus on the following knowledge areas and flight skills:
- Aerodynamics and aviation mathematics (e.g. load factor, maneuvering speed, and stalls/spins)
- Takeoffs and landings in strong crosswinds
- Stall and spin awareness, prevention, and proficiency training (including spin endorsements for CFI applicants)
- Air Traffic Control communication and procedures, and proficiency in operations at busy or complex airports
- Preparation for CFI candidates
- Regional airline transition (interview/training prep)
- Improvement of learning techniques and study skills
Time permitting, I can also provide flight reviews, instrument proficiency checks, complex endorsements, high performance endorsements, mock checkrides, and knowledge test preparation.
